CINEPOEMS : video works

'if you want to understand the invisible
look carefully at the visible' (Talmud)

I use the video camera to collect the visible:

. transition
... sunrise ... sunset ...

. doing hands ...

. a gathering ...

' ... we no longer have ears subtle enough to hear the passage of time.' (Gaston Bachelard, The Poetics of Space)

water - symbol of passing time and change ...
...
waves ... the immensity of the sea ... the sound of rain on glass ...
but also ... the quiet drip of a tap ...

I impose a rhythm, a melody, on everything I hear or experience.

Sound enables the transition from external to internal

... a voice ... shadows in a doorway ... a face turning away

bringing together sound and movement

to pry loose an inside

to invoke an essence
