Profile
I am a documentary filmmaker and moving image critic who looks holistically at audio visual production and its theoretical and historical contexts. I believe there is much work to be done in theorising and making interactive narrative. Digitally enabled artefact production concerns me both as a practitioner and academic commentator. These overlapping areas will require significant research input in the future if the creative potentials of digital technologies are to be realised.
I have supervised PhDs by practice in video art, computer game design and documentary film production.
Recent published work includes a study of the historic 1968 computer art exhibition Cybernetic Serendipity published by MIT Press.
