Output Details
This 2006-07 international invitational exhibition at the Drawing Room, London (curated by Caoimhin Mac Giolla Léith) addressed whether there are limits to the activity of drawing? The exhibition toured to the Model Gallery, Sligo, Ireland. The diverse range of selected artists opened up new dimensions in the drawing process. I made 3 wall drawings. These works engaged my interest in architecture, sustaining the physical parameters of the drawn form. Drawing as a popular form of expression was displaced and looked at as pulse, graph, indirect process, almost invisible trace and a mark at the edge of perception. This involved an extending of form to the edge of the visual field, articulated in architecture by the wall drawing. The Drawing Room is the only publicly funded gallery in Europe dedicated to contemporary drawing practice and has excellent links with various international research centres. Catalogue published by Drawing Room, London, Kate Macfarlane, ISBN 0-9542668-8-9, 46 pages. Funded by The Foyle Foundation, Culture Ireland, Mondrian Foundation, Henry Moore Foundation, Arts Council Ireland. Value £50000.
