Profile

Research interests:

The Network of Multimedia Architecture and Design www.n-o-m-a-d.org Learning Environments, Performance Space, Spatial Landscape Mechanisms for the peripheries of cities, Placemaking and Urban Masterplanning

I have a strong interest in the application of ecological principles to the practice of Design and Masterplanning. In my work and teaching I employ the fundamentals of ecology to evolve strategies for multi-dimensional and sustainable human communities.

Since 2001, I have been a member of n-o-m-a-d.org (The Network of Multimedia Architecture and Design) where I work collaboratively with a group of like-minded designers, from different backgrounds dispersed across Europe.

I have worked as a consultant for Gross Max, Edinburgh and have recently formalised my own practice Lisa Mackenzie Consultancy. Recent projects have included a new masterplan for Whiteness, a former oilrig fabrication yard in the Scottish Highlands, and Calderwood a masterplan for 2700 new homes in West Lothian, 10km from Edinburgh for Stirling Developments.

I have worked with the Lighthouse, Glasgow for the last four years on the Future Learning and Teaching Project and Podcasting both funded by The Scottish Executive, and am currently working on a project entitled 'Senses of Place' commissioned by the Schools Estate Branch of the Scottish Executive.
