Title
MPSIX: The creation of city guides in the form of audio pod casts
Type
Digital or visual media
Output Details
Introduction:
The MPSIX project was organised and jointly funded by the education department of The Lighthouse, Scotland's Centre for Architecture, Design and the City and The Scottish Executive's Policy on Architecture Unit as part of the Access to Architecture campaign informed by key aims and aspirations of the Executive's Policy on Architecture. It was also part of the Six Cities Design Festival as an 'initiative aimed at celebrating and raising awareness of the value of design and creativity in all six of Scotland's cities'. Specifically MPSIX aimed to provide a platform to collect information from local teenagers about their city and their views on the memorable spaces, places, architecture and design ('made by teenagers for teenagers') and to allow the global dissemination of this information in the form of downloadable podcasts or 'audio guidebooks' from the MPSIX website; the whole process explicitly revealing what is relevant, important and vital for today's youth.
Role of Author:
Fraser was an Architectural and Design workshop leader for the Podcasting Workshops in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee and Inverness and this role included the design of workshop sessions to structure participant outputs as well as active participation in day to day workshop events.
