The Practice of Sustainable Landscape Architecture

Type

Book Title

Landscape and Sustainability (2nd Editon)

Output Details

This entirely new chapter invited by the commissioning editor of the first edition discusses why many contemporary landscape architects have chosen to eschew overt best practice in sustainable design, whilst others embrace sustainability wholeheartedly, in ways which have divided the profession. International high profile case studies by James Corner, George Hargreave and Atelier Dreiseitl have been chosen and analysed in relation to the stated philosophies of the designers to show that sustainable design does not necessarily mean an abandonment of art and aesthetics to formless and culturally invisible manifestations of nature.
