Profile

I've collaborated with Graham Ramsay as an artist and curator since 1997 Conceptually our work draws upon an examination of contemporary consumer/popular culture . We have exhibited widely, both nationally and internationally. In 2009 we had a solo exhbition at the Glasgow Sculpture Studios (Good Teeth) as well as undertaking a residency and retrospective exhibition in Melbourne at the Victorian Colege of the Arts and Margaret Lawrence Gallery, Melbourne Australia. Other solo exhibitions have included Gasworks Gallery, London (accompanied by retrospective catalogue) and Chapter Gallery, Cadiff. In 2003 we were one of the artists chosen to represent Scotland at the Venice Biennale. IN 2005 we were awarded the Scottish Arts Council's Artist Award of £15,000.

Alongside this work as an artist, I have also worked as a writer, producing numerous catalogue essays for national and international artists, reviews for contemoprary art magazines and lengthier texts for more specialist art publications. Recent publications have included texts for Stills Gallery, Map magazine and Sight and Sound. Earlier pieces include 'Put Some Dada Flesh on the Bone' (Variant 2006), 'Canoneers' (chapter in the 'Frozen Tears' book 2004) and 'Youth', the catalogue essay for Saadane Afif's retrospective book published by the Francois Quintin Gallery, Paris (2003).
