Research interests include ongoing investigation of the relationship between writing and making, including postcolonial fiction and contemporary craft. Current research continues to explore the role of textiles as metaphor, symbol and structure in contemporary fiction. Expanding upon published research of Zimbabwean fiction (Yvonne Vera: the voice of cloth published by kalliope paperbacks 2008), current work also considers examples of Indian fiction, Japanese film and South African fiction.
Editor of "In the Loop" (Black Dog, spring 2010) a forthcoming collection of essays that aims to challenge oversimplified definitions of knitting as limited to a domestic craft and instead seeks to reveal the diversity of contemporary textile culture today.
