The Graduate Research School deals with enquiries about research-led postgraduate study at eca. Formal applications for postgraduate study must be submitted to the Academic Registry.
My research interests lie in the field of horticulture and inclusive landscapes, branching in four principal themes: visitor information and wayfinding at outdoor recreation sites, visual impairment, inclusion for people with disabilities and the use of horticulture as therapy.
Since 2002 I have worked as a research fellow at OPENspace Research Centre, Edinburgh College of Art, undertaking contract research in visitor information and Wayfinding (for the Forestry Commission), Local Open Space and Social Inclusion (for the Forestry Commission), the Social Value of Nature (for English Nature), and developing interpretative media for people with disabilities (with the Eden Project).
I am also involved in developing a project with Thrive to evaluate the use of horticultural therapy in secure settings.
