Profile
I have been exhibiting my glass professionally since 1980, both nationally and internationally. Recent work takes the form of large, abstract, free blown vessels that have a rich combination of dark,intense colour, silver and gold leaf, heavily textured surfaces and enamel and lustre painting. These reflect an early love of rocks, minerals and coral and a lifelong obsession with black.
Visits to Greek monasteries and the rich, dark atmosphere of their decaying wall paintings have led me to further explore the relationship between precious metal and glass through experimentation with traditional cold gilding methods and enamel painting. These are worked on the flat canvas of the spun glass roundel.
