In 1997 I set up Cara New Glass, a fully equipped glass design studio on the West coast of Scotland, which continues to expand and flourish.
In late 1997 I began to design for one of the Middle East's largest glass studios, Glass Effects, based in Dubai UAE, a thriving city environment undergoing massive development and architectural challenges.
Projects were undertaken for many of the country's most prestigious buildings, including the famous Burj Al Arab (the tallest hotel in the world), and the Wafi mall housing the Middle East's largest stained glass window. The post in Dubai expanded to managing the entire design studio until July 2000 when I returned to Scotland.
I continue to develop my work in glass and to forge new links with other developing regions in the Far East, as well as the production of work for commercial and private projects throughout the UK and Europe.
I engaged in extensive research for the production of "Watersongs," a solo exhibition of new glassworks. The project focused on historical and contemporary issues relating to the changing landscape of Clydeside, and deal with personal experiences of those who have witnessed the social changes in Scotland in past decades.
