Nicola Murray

Before Nicola Murray began her art training she gained a degree in Biology at Aberdeen University then worked in the operating theatres and wards of an open-heart surgery unit as a physiological monitoring technician at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. She subsequently studied Drawing and Painting at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, winning a John Kinross Scholarship from the Royal Scottish Academy in her final year, which enabled her to live for ten months in Florence, Italy.

Since returning to Scotland in 1993, Murray has received several awards and prizes for her work and exhibits both in the UK and internationally. Much of her current activity is lens-based and combines photography, printmaking and digital technologies.
