Studying for a BA Hons in Illustration at Edinburgh College of Art I was brought up in Cheshire, England. My parents are dairy farmers, so I had a brilliant 'playground' as a child, surrounded by animals and farmyard items. I was put on a pony before I could walk and developed a complete passion for horse riding and falling off! Luckily my parents enjoyed taking me to horse shows and country fairs. Much of the inspiration for the illustrations and story writing of my children's book came largely from those and many other childhood experiences. Having a complete adoration of animals influenced my degree proposal. This has been aimed towards involving the study of animals, dedicating time to sketching animals from life, at Edinburgh Zoo, Chester Zoo and at darms. My children's book 'Mudside Piglet Race' is deliberately based on an animal theme, which is a story about six piglets who compete in their piglet primary school trotting race. I hope you enjoy looking through a sample of my work on the next few pages |
