Talks
Informal talks on a range of subjects including specific programme areas, how to apply to the College, careers, accommodation and student life at the College have been programmed to run throughout the day. Each talk will be repeated at least once so you won’t miss a thing. For more information about each talk and how to book a place, click here.
Tours
Touring departments and facilities and meeting staff and students is the best way to get an idea of what it will be like to study at Edinburgh College of Art.
At the Open Day, you will have the opportunity to take a self-guided tour of the studios, departments and facilities - please pick up a Campus Map when you arrive. There will be students and staff in all the studios who can answer your questions.
You will also have the opportunity to take a look around the College Library and explore our extensive catalogue of books, journals, magazines and DVDs.
If you are interested in studying Architecture, there will be an Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture (ESALA) tour of The University of Edinburgh Architecture department. The tour will leave from the University's Minto House at 11:00am. Minto House is on Chambers Street, only a short walk away from the College. Click here for directions.
For those interested in the MA (Hons) Fine Art course, which is delivered jointly by Edinburgh College of Art and The University of Edinburgh, there are no specific tours of the University, but if you wish to visit the University on 29 October, they also offer self-guided tours.
Information desks
When you’re not busy touring departments or attending a talk, we recommend that you visit the Sculpture Court which is situated on the ground floor of the Main Building. Here, you will find staff who can offer more information on:
Accommodation & Finances - our Student Services team is on hand to give you advice and answer your questions.
Careers - find out what careers assistance is available to our students and speak to our Employability Advisor about career options.
Portfolio Preparation - get advice on portfolio preparation. Please note that due to the high volume of visitors at the Open Day, we are unable to comment on individual portfolios so we ask that you do not bring your portfolio or work with you for specific advice.
UCAS and Applying - our Registry team will be on hand to answer all your queries.
Also in the Sculpture Court, you can talk face-to-face with staff about the courses we offer:
• Architecture
• Design - Animation, Fashion, Film & Television, Glass, Graphic Design, Illustration, Interior Design, Jewellery & Silversmithing, Performance Costume, Product Design, and Textiles.
